TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Horace White, 10 Huntingdon Road, Cambridge
Date26 July 1894
DescriptionIn response to White's letter of 10 July, Rix is instructed by the Treasurer to inform him that when the subject of his proposal was discussed in Council, it was understood that the charge of five pounds per 1000 was for the title slips as ready for the printer, inclusive of throwing out, combining and editing work, but that it appears a high charge if it is simply for the writing of slips prior to this work. Rix notes it is a shame that White did not send a specimen before completing it, otherwise this point would have come up before.

He also asks for the information regard the probable cost of 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' index, and states it is his understanding that the work done so far amounts to no more than five pounds. The cost of the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' index exceeds what the Council had expected, and so the Treasurer wishes to have an idea of what 'Transactions' will cost before they proceed any further.
