TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date26 July 1894
DescriptionRix writes concerning the recruitment of someone to assist Miss Chambers while he is absent on holiday.

He notes that he has no serious objection to either candidate, but that although Miss Edwardes' acquirements are superior to those of Miss Calderon, she is 'not the sort of person I should care to have as an official subordinate' if he were in Miss Chambers' place. On that basis, if Calderon knows enough, she would be acceptable, but if Edwardes is their preference, he doubts that her 'off-hand and excited style' would affect anyone but her immediate superior, Chambers.
