DescriptionPress cuttings and other printed information concerning the Royal Society's Fellows. Compiled by the organisation's staff. Cuttings include obituary notices of Fellows of the Royal Society, notably Rudolf Virchow (pp.14-18, p.26); Frederick Abel (pp.18-20); James Glaisher (p.30); Isaac Roberts (pp.38-40); John Simon (pp.40-42); Pierre Curie (pp.84-86); Dmitri Mendeleev (pp.94-96); and William Thomson, Lord Kelvin (pp.102-108). Other topics include: the Royal Society Davy Medal presentation to Pierre and Marie Curie (p.32); a review of the autobiography of Alfred Russel Wallace (p.67); and bicentenary celebrations for John Evelyn (p.74) and Benjamin Franklin (pp.81-82). The book contains some ephemera, including a notice of the death of Martin Fountain Woodward, son of Henry Woodward (p.3); a sevice in memory of Sir Frederick Bramwell (p.33); and a Vanity Fair cartoon of Sir William Huggins (pp.31-32). There are illustrated magazine articles on Fellows. Also, notices of university intelligence and various honours given to Fellows. Some letters to editors are collected.

Generally, the cuttings are attributed to the source newspaper and dated in manuscript. The volume contains blank pages, usually on the verso, with the recto pages filled. A paper label on the cover is inscribed: 'June 20, 1901-March 25, 1898. Royal Society Scrap Book. Biographical.'
