DescriptionPress cuttings and other printed information concerning the Royal Society. Compiled by the organisation's staff. Cuttings include accounts of the Royal Society's conversaziones, anniversary meetings and other events. Other content: reports on dismissals at the Royal Indian Engineering College at Cooper's Hill (pp.1-5); the formation of the British Academy (p.15, pp.19-20, pp.49-51, pp.54-59 and throughout); solar eclipse (pp.17-19, p.31); anti-malarial expedition of Ronald Ross (pp.33-41); the Prince of Wales visiting the Royal Society, illustrated (pp.52-53); National Physical Laboratory (pp.57-58); volcanic eruptions at St. Vincent and Martinique in the West Indies [Caribbean] (pp.73-79); Presidential address of William Huggins (pp.101-105); representation of the University of London in Parliament (pp.111-119). Other topics are highly varied. There are some court reports and letters to the editors of the various newspapers are also collected, including Margaret Huggins on the Alfred Jewel (p.43). Some ephemera is present.

Generally, the cuttings are attributed to the source newspaper and dated in manuscript. The volume contains blank pages, usually the verso pages of the book. A paper label on the cover is inscribed: 'February 26 1901-February 9 1903. Royal Society Scrap Book. General.'
