Cuttings include accounts of the Royal Society's conversaziones, anniversary meetings and other events. Other content: a series of articles on 'the mystery of radium' (pp.2-6); Secretaryship of the Zoological Society (p.8); Lord Kelvin on religion and science (pp.10-12); discovery of the cause of sleeping sickness (pp.16-19); Thomas Case and examinations in Greek and Latin at Oxford (pp.32-38, p.74); national eyesight testing (pp.38-40); International Association of Academies (pp.48-62); Oliver Lodge accused of misrepresenting the views of Thomas Henry Huxley on the origin of life (pp.70-72); solar eclipse (pp.84-90); National Physical Laboratory (pp.92-98). Other topics are highly varied. There are letters to the editors of the various newspapers. Some illustrations are present.

Generally, the cuttings are attributed to the source newspaper and dated in manuscript. The volume contains blank pages, usually the verso pages of the book. A paper label on the cover is inscribed: 'March 14th 1903 to May 31st 1906. Royal Society. Scrap Book. General.'
