The volume contains some obituaries and death notices, including: Sir William Hardy (p.20); Lord Arthur Hutchinson and Otto Warburg (p.36); Alfred Barton Rendle and James Crichton-Browne (p.37); Prince Arthur of Connaught (pp.47-52); John Jacob Abel (p.56); Robert Mond (p.57); Frank Dyson (p.65); Jocelyn Thorpe (p.66); Oliver Lodge (p.68); Joseph John Thomson (p.73, p.77); Robert Hadfield (p.75); Henry Head (p.76); William Bulloch and Frederick Banting (p.78); and Albert Charles Seward, with a memorial order of service (p.79); and many others.

Cuttings also include accounts of the Royal Society's Presidential addresses, anniversary meetings, award of medals and other events. Other content: Lister Centenary celebrations (pp.1-6); Royal Society grants for research (p10); heavy hydrogen and heavy water (p.19); Pyotr Kapitza (p.22); 'Revolt in the Royal Society'' [Frederick Soddy on democratisation] (pp.23-25); malaria (pp.25-26); funeral of Ernest Rutherford (pp.30-34); sealed letter of Michael Faraday (p.40); continental drift (p.58); 'secret' meeting of European Jewish refugee scholars at Burlington House (pp.62-63); electric music instruments (p.63); article by Archibald Vivian Hill on science and defence (p.91); Winston Churchill's signing of the Royal Society Charter Book (p.82). Other topics are highly varied. There are letters to the editors of the various newspapers.

These cuttings are attributed to the source newspaper and dated in manuscript. The volume contains some blank pages, with pp.83-121 not used. A few unpasted cuttings are gathered at pp.87-88. A paper label on the cover is inscribed: 'March 1927-June 1941.'
