TitlePaper, 'Sur les surfaces homofocales du second ordre' [On second order confocal surfaces] by A [Amédée] Mannheim
CreatorMannheim; Victor Mayer Amédée (1831-1906); French mathematician
Date1882
DescriptionMannheim explains that given an ellipsoid, it is known that through any point in space, we can pass three surfaces of the second order which are confocal to it. The knowledge of the ellipsoid entailing the knowledge of these confocal surfaces, there are geometric links between and these surfaces. He proposes to establish, among these connections, those which make it possible to obtain the main radii of curvature of the three confocal surfaces.
