TitlePaper, 'On the physical characters of the lines in the spark spectra of the elements' by Walter Noel Hartley
Date1891
DescriptionHartley writes: 'The properties of the atoms are a periodic function of their masses, and the physical characteristics of the spectra of the elements appear to be an expression of the properties of the atoms; for there is undoubtedly an intimate connexion between the rays emitted by the self-luminous vapours of the elements and their chemical and physical properties.'

Annotations in pencil and ink.
