Date1891
DescriptionMallock writes: 'When an India-rubber tube is expanded by internal fluid pressure, it preserves its cylindrical form until the increase in. its diameter bears a certain proportion to its diameter when unstrained; but, when more fluid is introduced, the condition of the tube becomes unstable, and the internal fluid pressure diminishes.'

Annotations in pencil and ink. Includes two pages of diagrams of experimental apparatus and results.

Subject: Physics

Received 16 March 1891. Read 23 April 1891. Communicated by Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt].
