DescriptionPlates intended for publication in various papers published in volume 123 of Philosophical Transactions. The plates have been removed from their associated manuscripts. Published plates were engraved by the Basire family.

The plates correspond to the following papers:
'Note on the tides' by John William Lubbock;
'On the anatomical and optical structure of the crystalline lenses of animals, particularly that of the cod' by David Brewster;
'Experimental researches in electricity.—fifth series' by Michael Faraday; and
'The anatomy and physiology of the liver' by Francis Kiernan.
