DescriptionPlates intended for publication in various papers published in volumes 134 and 136 of Philosophical Transactions. The plates have been removed from their associated manuscripts. Published plates were engraved by the Basire family.

The plates correspond to the following papers from volume 134:
'A description of certain Belemnites, preserved, with a great proportion of their soft parts, in the Oxford clay, at Christian-Malford, Wilts' by Richard Owen; and
'On the reproduction of lost parts in Myriapoda and Insecta' by George Newport.

The remaining plates correspond to the following paper:
'On the fossil remains of the soft parts of Foraminifera, discovered in the chalk and flint of the South-East of England' by Gideon Algernon Mantell.
