Description | Study of the crane carrying the eastern counterpoise of the great telescope. The image shows the guide wheel, pulley system, and other features; to the right of the image is the main tube of the telescope almost at zenith. These photographs were used to produce the engraving that was published in William Parsons' paper as figure 9 from plate 24.
