A graphite inscription across the top reads 'Section of the gravid uterus placenta and membranes from a preparation in the R [Royal] College of Surgeons'. Signed in ink in bottom right, 'Joseph Perry del.' and below 'August 2. 1831.'

Published in Philosophical Transactions as part of paper titled 'On the structure of the human placenta, and its connexion with the uterus' by Robert Lee.

Read to the Royal Society on 17 November 1831.
