DescriptionPlate 5, number 4, figures 1-2 showing the anterior and posterior surfaces of the lenses of the eyes of animals belonging to Mammalia. Inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed in ink top right upside-down, 'R. K. Greville. delt.' A flap added to the side includes a simpler illustration of figure 1, surrounded by a note to the engraver in ink, 'This Figure is not to be engraved. It is sent in order to shew the Engraver how the fibres in Fig. 1 and 2 must be made to run at the centre of the Lens there being no open spaces and no short fibres as shewn in Fig. 1, 2.' The manuscript for this paper is wanting.

Published in Philosophical Transactions as part of paper titled 'On the anatomical and optical structure of the crystalline lenses of animals. Continued from a former paper (Phil. Trans. 1833, p. 332.)' by David Brewster.

Received by the Royal Society on 26 November 1835. Read 21 January 1836.
