Title | Referee's report by John Bretland Farmer, on a paper 'The relations between certain diatoms & the fission products of a parasitic alga (Chlorochytrium)' by Henry Charlton Bastian |
Date | 14 November 1902 |
Description | Sectional Committee: Botany
The paper is devoid of scientific value and he cannot recommended it for reading or printing by the Royal Society. The main point of the paper lies in the effort to prove that diatoms in infested Lemna shoots may arise as heterogenetic products from the Chlorochytrium. Absolutely no evidence of the slightest value is adduced in support of this position and the author's conclusion is solely based on the frequent concurrence of the two organisms in cells or spaces of the Lemna plant. Returns the manuscript and figures.
