Title | Referee's report by Lazarus Fletcher, on a paper 'The mineral constituents of dust and soot from various sources' by Walter Noel Hartley and Hugh Ramage |
Date | December 1900 |
Description | Sectional committee: not stated
Recommended for publication in the Proceedings. No illustrations accompany the manuscript. Questions the conclusion drawn that the dust which fell on the 16th and 17th November 1897 in its composition being 'totally' unlike that of volcanic dust and soot from various chemical and metallurgical works. The meteoric origin of the cloud dust as regards chemical composition depends chiefly on negative evidence which is not absolutely convincing. The authors might vary somewhat the statement of the conclusions. The paper is of special interest in establishing the presence of nickel in soot and flue dust.
