TitleReferee's report by David Bruce, on a paper 'Further remarks on the production of a malarial form of South African Horse-Sickness' by A Edington
Date2 November 1903
DescriptionSectional Committee: [Physiology and Zoology]

Bruce returns Edington's paper herewith. He thinks the disease and parasite described by Edington have nothing to do with South African Horse Sickness. The parasite found by Edington is the Piroplasma Equi (Laveran) and is the cause of quite another disease. He therefore cannot recommend publication of this paper in any form. Dr McFadyan should be asked his opinion. Annotated that Sidney Martin was the referee proposed by Sir M F [Michael Foster] and 'Sir M F to speak to Col Bruce'.
