TitleReferee's report by William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin, on a paper 'On the influence of geological changes on the earth's axis of rotation' by George Howard Darwin
Date7 March 1877
DescriptionRecommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. Considers the conclusions and theory to be sound, and a good basis for further researches. The mathematical section has been made 'too difficult by the equations written down, and by the mode of treatment adopted'. Gives a thorough mathematical discussion of the problem. If the author wishes not to improve this section and instead print is as-is, the paper is still recommended for publication. Will send a graphical construction the next day.
