TitleReferee's report by Alfred North Whitehead, on a paper 'On the theory of consistence of logical class-frequency and its geometrical representation' by George Udny Yule
DateMarch 1901
DescriptionSectional Committee: Mathematics

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, in full. He would regret the omission of any of the illustrations. The indication of the possibility of such diagrams is one of the most interesting and original parts of the paper; and he found all the diagrams useful in the papers elucidation. There are some phrases and expressions which he should be inclined to criticise but 'they have the weight of authority on their side'. The small points at issue are not such that the Society should, as a body, hold an opinion upon them, especially as the phraseology of the paper coincides with the prevalent point of view. He has not examined the paper as if correcting it for press, nor has he verified the details of the the algebra but he has noted two slips on an attached piece of paper. The attached paper concerns slight errors on page three, and equation one at the end of section twelve.
