TitleReferee's report by Henry Alexander Miers, on a paper 'Effects of strain on the crystalline structure of lead' by J C W Humphrey
Date13 June 1902
DescriptionSectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

The paper should not be published in Philosophical Transactions if it can be published in the Proceedings with four or six illustrations. If it is published in the Transactions a large part of the paper should be omitted. Six or perhaps even four figures would be sufficient enough illustration and suggests possible figures to include. The paper supplements those of [James Alfred] Ewing and [Walter] Rosenhain and does not really contain much that is new in principle, although the observations are fuller and the photographs show more clearly the slip lines, the twin planes, and the re-crystallisation of strained lead.

[Published in Philosophical Transactions A, 1903].
