He would not presume to argue a question of ions. Outlines his own idea of what happened in the capillary electrometer. Is glad Larmor does not 'despise' the instrument and was not aware that any physicist had ever used it for the measurement of small electrical changes of very rapid variation. It has of course been long used as an electroscope. Hopes Larmor will pardon his boldness in offering the above explanation.
