TitleSecond referee's report by Hugh Longbourne Callendar, on a paper 'The measurements of temperature. Parts I-III' by Morris William Travers, George Senter and Adrien Jaquerod
Date4 July 1902
DescriptionSectional committee: [Physics and chemistry]

Callendar does not think that the references to Dewar's work in the paper are sufficiently full and explicit. In some respects they are hardly fair or courteous, considering how remarkably the accuracy of Dewar's preliminary measurements is confirmed. Notes that the author quotes Dewar's results over a range, which conveys the impression of excessive inaccuracy on Dewar's part.Similar remarks apply to the references to Dewar's observations on the melting point and vapour pressure of solid Helium, and to his suggestions with regard to the critical point et cetera, of Helium, which appear to Callendar more reasonable and better than those of the author
