TitleSecond referee's report by George Ballard Mathews, on a paper 'The Basic-Gamma-Function and the Elliptic Functions' by Reverend F H Jackson
Date14 July 1904
DescriptionSectional Committee [Mathematics]

As Joseph Larmor already knows, Mathews does not think Jackson's papers are likely to be of permanent importance but they do contain some pretty analysis. Discusses a point on which he thinks the other referee, Burnside is a 'little too severe'. Discusses Jackson's formula in relation to Barnes, with reference to his paper 'On Double Gamma Function' in the 'Philosophical Transactions A', 1901. Mathews sees that Larmor has made a note suggesting publication of part of the paper in Proceedings, if the formula would be printed there, this would be a simpler course to take.
