Newall thinks the paper should be published in full in the Philosophical Transactions. All the illustrations should be reproduced. It would be convenient for many readers if on the four spectra at the end of the paper the wavelengths of say, three lines were indicated. The paper tends to bridge over the interval between the two methods of evolving spectra (flame and electric discharges), and in this way seems to mark a distinct step in the advancement of natural knowledge.
As an additional note Newall provides a list of suggestions on the paper with references to the particular page of the paper. Discusses in particular Watteville's use of the term 'oscillatory spark'. Also includes a short list of papers on the effect of hydrogen on special lines.
