TitleReferee's report by Adam Sedgwick, on a paper 'The heterogenetic origin of certain ciliated Infusoria from the eggs of a rotifer' by Henry Charlton Bastian
DateMarch 1905
DescriptionSectional Committee: Zoology

Not recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. It will be sufficient to publish the abstract with a few of the figures. The observations are sufficiently described in the abstract and all the figures are not required. The paper is remarkable and contains some interesting observations which ought to be published. The title however does not conform with the content and in the event of publication it should be altered. Suggests the alternative title 'On the appearance of certain Ciliate Infusoria in the egg of the Rotifer Hydatma'. The present title refers to a highly speculative interpretation of the observations for which the author provides no adequate support.
