TitleReferee's report by William Davidson Niven, on a paper 'On the intensity and direction of the force of gravity in India' by Lieutenant Colonel Sidney Gerald Burrard
DateMay 1905
DescriptionSectional Committee: Mathematics

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. All the accompanying illustrations should be reproduced. The paper is valuable as containing records of the latest pendulum and plumb line observations made in India. On that account it should be printed in the 'Transactions' as records of similar observations have previously been published there. The speculations the paper contains are not of great theoretical importance, but are presented in a from which, in contribution with the charts appended, exhibit the observation results conveniently. The author should state somewhere the nature of his position and responsibility in connection with the observations made by Major Lenox Conyngham.

[Published in Philosophical Transactions A, 1906].
