TitleReferee's report by Dukinfield Henry Scott, on a paper 'The fructification of Neuropteris heterophylla' by Robert Kidston
Date29 November 1903
DescriptionSectional Committee: Botany

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. Thinks the paper is of exceptional importance as it records the first case in which the female fructification of one of the Cycadofilices has been found in actual continuity with the vegetative organs. It thus afford the final proof that these plants were already seed-bearing Gymnosperms as regards their fructification and is an important contribution to the history of the evolution of the seed-plants. Has no modifications to suggests but thinks the author may wish to make a final revision of his paper before it goes to press. The illustrations are indispensable and will need very careful reproduction to do them justice. The figure in the text should be reproduced.
