TitleReferee's report by Henry Clifton Sorby, on a paper 'Notes on the chemical geology of the gold-fields of California' by John Arthur Phillips
Date3 April 1868
DescriptionRecommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. If the paper had been communicated to the Geological Society, he would have had no hesitation in recommending its publication, but as it has been presented to the Royal Society considers that they should publish it. Is not familiar with the geology of California and cannot be held accountable for any incorrect information on that subject. Finds the microscopical and chemical work pleasing. If the author thinks the section written in blue is not necessary then it need not be published.
