TitleLetter from Sydney Chapman, to Alfred Charles Glyn Egerton, regarding a paper 'The summation of infinite harmonic series' by Frederick Soddy
Date28 March 1941
DescriptionSectional Committee: Mathematics

With the help of Miss Young, a translator of German mathematical texts, they have determined that the note by the author is unsuitable for publication, and 'even the Mathematical Gazette would be unlikely to accept it'. Most of his series are available in textbooks. Refers to work by Leonhard Euler. 'I am afraid that the only proper course is to return it to Soddy, whatever vials of wrath the return of the paper may bring upon your head!'
