Lennard-Jones writes to express that he has 'more papers to referee at the moment than I can cope with [...] I am writing to Professor Curtis, the Chairman of the Physics Committee, to explain to him that I an unable to accept all the papers being sent to me at present, as they come from bodies dealing with mathematics, physics and chemistry.' The four papers would eventually be refereed by Rudolf Peiers [see RR/73/74-77] and published in Philosophical Transactions A as 'The growth of crystals and the equilibrium structure of their surfaces'.
