Title | Referee's report by James Clerk Maxwell, on a paper 'On the increase in resistance to the passage of an electric current produced on certain wires by stretching' by Herbert Tomlinson |
Date | nd [1877] |
Description | Not recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society', suggests the Proceedings instead. Refers to work by William Thomson, Lord Kelvin in the Philosophical Transactions for 1856, of which the current paper has apparently been written in ignorance. The method of measurement should be more clearly described, unless this has already been done by John Couch Adams. Futher explanations should be given for the methods chosen. Refers to work of Ludwig Boltzmann.
