TitleLetter from Dr H H Hess, Department of Geology, Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey
Date30 June 1964
DescriptionOn Gold's comments on the draft report on appointing scientist-astronauts to the Apollo programme. Gold does not recall in their deliberations that the case for a field geologist or geophysicist was so clear cut. A physicist might be just as effective. Some knowledge of vacuum physics would be essential. On applications, it is not clear how a recommendation would be made to NAS.
