TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Mr R G Lyon, Jr., the New York Academy of Sciences, 2 East 63rd Street, New York, New York
Date16 July 1975
DescriptionComplains that the editor who edited his after dinner speech mad e a vast number of improvements in grammar and syntax, and the result is quite unacceptable to him. It was meant to be a humorous speech, and can only be published with all the linguistic liberties one takes for effect on such occasions. the serious paper to which ist was converted is a flop. It is now quite impractical for him to make changes. Gold had no indication that there would be any interference with his text, and in fact was told that it would be published inthe form in which he submitted it. On the first page alone there were 53 changes!. So he regrets the extra trouble caused, but can accept no respnsibility for it.
