TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Professore F W Byron Jr. and W M Irvine, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Hasbrouck Laboratory, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts
Date14 October 1975
DescriptionStates he is very honoured to have their letter of September 10, offering him the position of Alvan Clark Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Massachusetts. He has much interest in the vigorous and excellent department of Astronomy, and is therefore tempted to accept the offer. He will use his present opportunity to be in the region to investigate many aspects of life and work at the University of Massachusetts, and them make a decision.

The title of the professor ship is a very fine one, and he would indeed by honoured to have it.
