TitleLetter from Thomas gold to Dr Herbert Friedman, Optics Division, Naval Research Laboratory, Washington DC
Date17 February 1976
DescriptionStates the national Geographic book is very nice, and he hopes it is selling well.

Has received the preprint of SMC X-1, and had heard of the discovery. Now most important to get a southern good radio telelscope to sit on that source and get the radio pulses that are probably emitted in synchronism.Discusses this.

On another subject, he is very much offended by NASA - both by their prejudiced attitude to him personally in relation to the lunar investigation, where they want to see no dissent, and also by their publicity hungry and consciously misleading attitude towards such propaganda as O'Neill's. It is very sad that the US space program will come to an end, but he really cannot see any possibility for continuation on those terms.
