TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Dr John Firor, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado
Date24 January 1978
DescriptionConcernign testing for methane near the New Jersey coast.

Also the Charleston region is active, and should be surveyed in this way. The large Charleston earthquake of 1886 was preceeded by a few days of booms in the atmosphere. In any case there is here a temporary chance of nailing down a remarkable natural phenomenon that takes place in his atmosphere. NRL does not appear to be too concerned.
