TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Mr Henry R Linden, President, Gas Research Institute, 3424 Sout State Street, Chicago, Illinois
Date5 December 1978
DescriptionGold is sending, as requested, a batch of papers pertaining to the primeval methane story, also a copy of their proposal, submitted in November, to the Gas Research Institute. Gold would be glad to discuss this proposed work with him and his staff. Gold realizes it runs counter to much of the prevalent wisdom, and hence it is easy to obtain unfavourable commets. On the other hand there has also been a lot of favourable comment, and in particular by very knowledgeable people such as Godron MacDonald, Melvin Calvin and others, so that reviewing procedure tends to be bvery chancy.

Gold is now particularly excited by the possibility that the upward migration of a pore-space domain, as he envisions it, is something that can be traced by repeating precisely a computer diagram of the difference between the two. Such a result would perhaps make possible both the long-term prediction of earthquakes and give indication for gas prospecting. The proposed work will tackle this point.

Asks Linden to let himi know of any further steps Linden would like Gold to take, Chicago is one of the few places that can be got to fairly conveniently form Ithaca.
