TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Dr R N Bracewell, Radio Propagation Laboratory, Stanford University, Stanford, California
Date22 December 1966
DescriptionSays that 'I didn't threaten anything -- I just told NASA that surely once they knew it interfered they would turn it off -- at any rate once Hornig knew, and Webb would be told, and the President would find out, and the Australian press was going to publish -- no, really I didn't say any of these things, but in fact they did turn it off. Apparently they now feel sore about the whole affair, which is silly. A mistake was made, and the only possible course of action was taken. There is no advantage ever in a case like that in displaying annoyance in the end'.
