TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Dr George E Mueller, Office of Manned Space Flight, National Aeronautics and Space Administration [NASA], Washington DC
Date13 October 1967
DescriptionEnclosing some information collected from Surveyor V, concerning the 'successful vernier rocket experiment'. Thinks that the results are relevant to some Apollo technology, and seem to be very different from the information handed out in an earlier NASA news conference. Goes on to discuss the information in detail. Concludes that the 'landing process of the LM and the question of the lunar flying vehicle might be affected by these findings'. Thinks that more quantitative results are required, which is why he has prepared the observations outlined in his letter to Dr Newell, to be carried out on succeeding Surveyors.
