TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Dr R N Bracewell, Radio Propagation Laboratory, Stanford University, Stanford, California
Date6 June 1968
DescriptionThanks Dr Bracewell for his comments on the five-year plan. Says that it has been almost entirely re-written and is, therefore, more interesting to read. Thinks that, although it will not meet with everyone's approval, it should obtain a greater share. Says that ARPA [Advanced Research Projects Agency] would like to cease funding the Arecibo [Ionospheric Observatory] by giving it to one of the 'military establishments'. Therefore, the NSF [National Science Foundation], which is short of money, will not have to fund it and 'everybody will be happy'.
