TitleLetter from Thomas Gold to Professor Hermann Bondi, Chief Scientific Adviser, Ministry of Defence, Main Building Whitehall, Londons SW1 England
Date13 May 1971
DescriptionAs he correctly surmises, Gold knows nothing about Israel. Bondi's evaluation of Fisher conincides with his. He regards Rees as far superior to Axford. He does not think he is likely to fizzle out, nor does he have a too awkward personality. He is generally well liked and in Gold's view extremely brilliant. Thinks Axford has become rather narrow in his work over the years and his ouput has been rather disappointing. Doesn't know how good either Axford or Rees would be in administration and in that area his impression is that Fisher would be superior. Rees, on the other hand, is intelligent and gentle, and that should enable him to learn the job.
