DescriptionNotice from David W Bailey, Secretary, Harvard University, to Thomas Gold, Harvard College Observatory, telling him that, upon his election as Professor of Astronomy, he has had the degree of Master of Arts, honoris causa, bestowed on him. According to a long standing custom, the degree is given to those who have no degree from Harvard upon their appointment to the university as Associate Professor or Professor.
