DescriptionThe files contain faxes and letters to Thomas Gold from numerous individuals and organisations, Jul-Oct 1994, and faxes and copies of letters from Thomas Gold to various individuals and organisations, May 1994, Sep-Oct 1994. The letters and faxes relate to various matters including the acceptance, by the USGS (US Geological Survey), of an article Gold wrote, ‘The Origin of methane in the crust of the earth’ for publication in David G Howell (ed) ‘The future of energy gases - US Professional Paper 1570’ (United States Government Printing Office, Washington, 1993) (221). The files also include articles on, and a letter to Thomas Gold about, the seepage of gases through the sea-bed and their effects, 1984-1994 (238), and faxes to and from Thomas Gold, Aug-Sep 1994, Dec 1994, Jan-May 1995, about arrangements for a proposed visit by him to Beijing, China in June 1995 (228). The letters and faxes have been numbered by Gold or a secretary from 211 to 239. They are not indexed and were originally stored in a hanging file.
