The files also contain faxes and letters to Thomas Gold from various individuals and organisations, Mar 1994, Jun-Jul 1994; Sep-Nov 1994. The letters and faxes relate to various matters such as: the general response to an article he wrote, ‘The Origin of methane in the crust of the earth’ for publication in David G Howell (ed) ‘The future of energy gases - US Professional Paper 1570’ (United States Government Printing Office, Washington, 1993); concern that his work on the origin of petroleum and natural gas and bacteria deep underground was not being recognised (270); note intended for Nature, ‘The westward drift of the geomagnetic anomalies’ (260); being asked by a publisher if John A Wheeler’s autobiography should be published (257); the proposal by David Walters, Governor of Oklahoma that Oklahoma should assist the Chinese with their research into the existence of non-biological natural gas (252-254); the radiation astronauts were exposed to in the early years of manned space flight (242). The letters and faxes have been numbered by Gold or a secretary from 240 to 270. They are not indexed and were originally stored in a hanging file.
