The files also contain faxes, e-mails and copies of letters from Thomas Gold to various individuals and organisations, Oct 1996, Dec 1997, Feb 1998, Aug-Dec 1998, Mar-Apr 1999. The letters, faxes and e-mails cover various matters e.g. his corresponding with Jonathan Cobb, Senior Editor, Copernicus on the editing and publication of his book, ‘The deep hot biosphere' (719); his corresponding with Dorothy Hopkins, Public Relations Consultant to Copernicus on publicising ‘The deep hot biosphere’ (718); his writing a letter to Hermann Bondi in which he uses ideas from quantum theory and thermodynamics to analyse whether the observation of a Planck curve in the microwave background radiation is significant, and the implications of this question in proving whether or not the Big Bang took place (712); his writing to Dr Bracewell and enclosing a copy of a recent letter to Bondi, and discussing the contents of the letter, in which he speculates on the significance of Planck spectra observed in cosmology, when statistical quantum theory is applied to the problem (704); his thoughts on archea (698). The material has been numbered by Gold or a secretary from 691 to 720. They are not indexed and were originally stored in a hanging file.
