The letters, faxes and e-mails cover various matters e.g. draft and final letter by Gold on origin of the Libyan desert glass and the subject of carbon isotopes (852, 830); letter and draft paper by him on quantum theory and the microwave background in the universe (839).

ArrangementIt is not clear how the faxes, e-mails and letters are arranged, the original sequence of numbering has been maintained. The letters, faxes and e-mails have been numbered by Gold or a secretary as follows: 822; 825-870 (822 should have been filed in TG/2/43 but has been placed in TG/2/44 instead). They are not indexed and were originally stored in a hanging file.
AppraisalFaxes and papers, dated 23-24 Jun 1999 (860, 854), were removed because they contain personal details about a member of Thomas Gold's family
