Includes correspondence from Lord Adrian, President of the Royal Society. The Home Secretary and Lord Chancellor were also involved in the discussions. Includes press cutting about the new Institute, and about the chair of the department, Dr Leon Radzinowicz (Wolfson Professor of Criminology). Includes correspondence about the opening of the new building for the Institute of Criminology, 2005, which was funded in part from the Wolfson Foundation's original grant in 1959.

The application was made to the Wolfson Foundation's 'Science and Medicine' programme area.
