General context | Coxe's publications on vegetable substances were intended to form a greater history of vegetables, although this was never produced. He was involved in a pamphlet war against apothecaries, defending the roles of experimental physicians. Coxe was posthumously made famous for his colonial activity. He owned a large amount of land in the colonised regions, first in West New Jersey, then in 'Carolana'. He was an advocate for British colonisation across the Appalachian Mountains. |
