Commanded the frigate 'Druid', which arrived off Macao, in 1840, and thence proceeded to Tongkoo Roads, a most welcome re-inforcement. He died on active service in the China Seas, after a few weeks illness.
Freemason, date and place of his initiation unknown, joined the first of two London lodges, 16 March 1832, Prince of Wales Lodge No 493, which became No 324, subsequently No 259
