OtherInfoWhile not much is known about Packer in a personal or professional capacity, his contributions within the Society were primarily focused on horticulture and dendrology. Additionally, it is known that he moved within the circles of Samuel Pepys (FRS 1665) as well as Christopher Wren (FRS 1660), with whose help he rebuilt Groombridge Place, which still stands today.

The election date is Packer's re-election date into the Society after the grant of the second charter in April 1663. All Fellows admitted in a two-month window after this charter, until 22 June 1663, are considered Original Fellows. He was previously admitted into the Society on 13 November 1661.
DNB gives dates as 1620-1683. Index to BR gives birth date as 1620, Hunter gives c 1620; baptism information from Mrs B Lee, Groombridge, Kent (letter dated 15/01/1980). Death date from tombstone/memorial in St John's church, Groombridge. According to Foster, aged 15 in Dec 1635.
